Getting started with Warehouse Manager – Workshop
The Getting Started Workshop for Warehouse Manager helps you outline how to take control of your warehouse operations — especially when working with external 3PL warehouses, directly from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Workshop Deliverables
After this workshop you will have
- A clear understanding of how Warehouse Manager manages 3PL warehouse processes as part of the standard sales and purchase flows in Business Central.
- Insight into how to send picking and shipment instructions to an external warehouse with a single action — ensuring orders are handled professionally without extra manual steps.
- Knowledge of how Business Central automatically receives status updates from the external warehouse, such as “Received at warehouse” and “Shipped,” keeping your internal records fully synchronized.
- An understanding of how Warehouse Manager handles purchase order receipts at the external warehouse, enabling you to stay in control even when goods are not physically received at your location.
- An overview of how new 3PL suppliers can be enabled quickly when needed — supporting a scalable logistics operation as your business grows.
- A first version of your 3PL workflow blueprint, based on your own scenarios, that helps evaluate fit and value.
What we cover during the workshop
Understanding Your 3PL Shipping Flow: How to Send orders to the 3PL directly from Business Central, Track the warehouse’s progress and manage shipments and receipts without maintaining separate systems.
Sales Order & Shipment Handling: We walk through the complete outbound flow. How to select “Send to 3PL” on a shipment, let the external warehouse handle picking and packing, receive status updates when the order is shipped, and have your Business Central documents updated automatically.
Purchase Order Receiving at 3PL: How your inbound processes are equally simple by notifying your 3PL warehouse about incoming goods, update Business Central automatically when goods arrive, and maintain accurate inventory levels without touching the items yourself.
3PL Supplier Setup & Scaling: We discuss how Warehouse Manager supports fast enablement of new logistics partners, flexible integration options and scalable warehouse operations as your business grows.
Complementary Warehouse Registration Tools: For companies with their own warehouse staff, we also introduce the optional use of Warehouse Mobile, a wizard‑driven registration tool that simplifies and accelerates all internal warehouse activities across devices.
This helps you understand how to support both internal and external warehouse needs using best‑practice logistics tools.
Important Note
Due to the limited 3‑hour duration, this workshop focuses on concepts, guided examples, and a practical proof‑of‑concept scenario. It does not include full connector setup, integrations, or advanced 3PL automations.
